    How is the SSD connected?

In that case, please go ahead and post some screenshots to see if it may help ID the issue.

I have installed win 7 on a spare disk in my tower, used diskpart as admin, list disk> select disk> select volume 1 > convert mbr.

Looked good, but when I tried a new installation on the ssd the installation program tells me that it is still a gpt disk.

I'm pretty fed up with the whole thing.

Had another fiddle and this is what I get:-

For me to be able to possibly further help, please go ahead and post a screenshot of your Disk Management with the SSD connected to see if it may help ID the issue.

I have managed to reconvert the SSD to MBR, using the graphic interface. I cannot say why it worked for me this time and it was in shere desperation that I gave it another swing.
Windows7 Ultra is installed and everything is functioning as per the book, so that this is the end of the story (So far).

Thank you for all the support.

    Hello Shawn,
I'm wondering if I wanted to make my existing MBR SSD boot drive GPT would the following work.
Format the SDD as GPT then reimage the OS partition only with Macrium Reflect?
I know if I reimaged with Windows inbuilt it would replace the MBR and reformat MBR.

    Hey Michael,

I'm not sure with Macrium Reflect, but I would believe that it would restore whatever it was when the image was created.

Usually, you would only use GPT on an OS partition when installing with UEFI.

How to Restore an MBR System image to UEFI/GPT

I stumbled across this. I haven't tried it though. The advantage would be that your older Macrium MBR system images could still be relevant if you decide to go down the GPT path for your boot drive.

Apologies if I'm going a bit off topic.
