That would be the safest way to make sure it's running properly.

GPT adds a small "unallocated space" section on the drive for working room.

Thanks, that would explain why Windows takes a bit longer to boot, it's no doubt looking for that.

    I'll convert it to MBR.

    Thanks again.

It's much faster booting now it's MBR...so obviously one should leave GPT disks well alone unless one knows what one is doing.

    Thanks Shawn.

    Brink,

I've got to add my "thanks", as well. Thank you.

I've been stumped over an issue regarding my backup drives. Everything LOOKED okay when accessing the drives, but there was always some sort of problem with recognizing them from boot/rescue CD's or using them as clones and trying to boot from them. Yeah, I'd set them up as GPT drives rather than MBR. I've been searching for a few days to find out how to undo my GPT selection. Your simple "How To" has saved the day.

Keep up the excellent work! Your work on these forums is outstanding.

    Thanks,
    Ken

Hello Darryl, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Could you give us some more details and screenshots of your situation and issue? Please also include a screenshot of your Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) window showing all of you HDD(s) layout. :)

Are you getting an error message? If so, what does it say?

    Hi !!

I have an ssd ocz vertex 2 120GB which I used to my macbook. Now I want to use it to my pc. I tried to install windows 7 to this disk but it says that it is GPT disk. So I tried to convert it to MBR.

The first option does not work for me. I tried the second option.

I also have a problem with option two, when trying to delete the volumes. I can see two volumes in the disk I want to convert to MBR. One volume is 200MB and it says EFI, fat32. The other volume is 111GB and it is ntfs. I select the small volume (200MB) but when I try to delete it, cmd crashes and restarts...

    Any help with that ?
