Do you want to delete your D: drive or the 400 Mb partition?

Hello Lizzie, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you are trying to delete your D: partition, then it's not letting you since you have the page file located on it. With the page file on the D: partition, it considers the D: partition as a system partition now. Windows will not let you delete a system partition or drive for the same OS that you are currently started in to prevent you from hosing it.

To be able to delete the D: partition, you will need to move the page file back to your C: partition first.

Could you also provide a screenshot of your Disk Management window showing all of your HDD's layout to see if anything else may prevent you from deleting it as well?

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Yep, it looks like it's only the page file causing it.

The reason why I asked this "Do you want to delete your D: drive or the 400 Mb partition?" is because you said you want to delete the "new found partition" (Volume 2) but in your picture you're actually trying to delete the D: partition (Volume 1).

What did you do EXACTLY? Tell us every step you did.

    Lizzie,

Could you list exactly step by step on what you did and how you moved the page file to see if a mistake may have been made?

Run a startup repair to see if it can fix this for you. You may need to let it run and restart more than once.

Okay, i clicked on computer then properties then advanced system settings, i then clicked on the advanced tab. them clicked on change under virtual memory then i unchecked the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives box. i then put custom settings into my c drive initial size and max size boxes and on the d drive checked no paging file box, then restarted my laptop.

i cannot do anything on my laptop now its just a black screen with the error message on.

    Lizzie,

For now, see if running a startup repair may help. You may need to let it run and restart more than once.
