Yes, PPM 2010 was available for both bit versions. The current free one is 32 bit only - bit of a retrograde step on the freebie front.

On the plus side, Paragon free imaging app. is now much improved.

LOL, you needed to reduce the size instead.

A good free program would be Paragon Partition Manager Free Edition.
The free version is for a 32 bit OS. Site seems to suggest a 64 bit OS needs the paid version.
Oh, well that is removed off the free program list then.

Partition Wizard is another great free choice. :)

    Hello Ajith,

Since you already have the limit of 4 primary partitions on your hard disk, you will not be able to create a new partition easily or wisely.

In order to do so, you would have to first create a set of HP operating system recovery discs for your HP laptop. Afterwards, delete the "HP Tools" and "Recovery D:" partitions until they were "unallocated space. You can then create a new partition from this "unallocated space".

However, if something should happen to the set of recovery discs that you just created, you would have no way of reinstalling Windows 7 without having to but a new copy of Windows 7.

i've already created the recovery discs..but now i think its better not to take the risk u said..I'll keep just the 1 drive.
btw my HP dealer said they dont recommend partition, and if i wanted they'll do it for me.

    Thanks :)

    You're welcome Ajith.

If your laptop supports adding a second internal 2.5" HDD, then that may be an option for you. If not, then you could also use an external HDD.

I'd be interested in what the HP dealer has in mind.
Many HP users face your problem and it baffles me why HP partition their HDDs this way.
You can also image your recovery partition with Macrium Reflect (free). Then restore it if and when you want.

    unallocated space partition problem

    hi,
I have a new lenovo with windows 7 and 640GB HDD.
When i opened the laptop, nearly 600 was allocated to C.
    so wanted to partition it.
I did the "shrink" method in this forum and created 525 gb unallocated.
when i try to follow the above steps for creating new sample volume it is giving the error "you cannot create a new volume in this unallocated space because the disk already contains maximum number of partitions"

    could you kindly help please.
