Yes you can. That is how many you can do on each single separate hard drive. :)
10x a lot btw it is a great forum
I've made partition on my disk for 80GB from 500Gb.
Then i want to shrink again my disk for 20GB.
Succesful for the shrink, but when i want to format the partition,i failed and got mssg
"You cant create a new volume in this unallocated space because the disk already contains the maximum number of partitions".
I have 3 primary , 1 unallocated, 1 logical drive in 1 disk...
How to solve this problem???
Thnx...

Hello Bang Zen, and welcome to Seven Forums.
Could you post a screenshot of your Disk Management? This will help determine what may be happening with this. :)
Bang Zen,
The reason is that you have reached your 3 primary partitions limit, and since you already have a logical partition created to the right of the unallocated space, you cannot shrink a primary to the left of the logical partition to create another partition using Disk Management.
You would need to shrink a logical partition (blue one) to be able to have the 20 GB partition instead, or use a 3rd party program like the free Partition Manager Home Edition instead.
You would select the unallocated space (main window), then select Create Partition (left pane), then follow the rest of the onscreen instructions to finish creating the partition. :)
Hi, just discovered this forum. Thankyou for the tutorial. I have a couple of questions to do with the partitions. I have just bought a shop bought pc with windows 7 64 bit and am looking to partition the drive and dual boot with xp 32bit in order to run a couple of older programs that will not run in windows 7.
Everything made sense until I checked the disk management and it looks like I already have 3 primary partitions. I understand that this is the max, however I can run 1 extended with logical partitions. My questions are
can I shrink and partition C with a logical drive and put xp on the logical drive(does it matter that C is in the middle?)?
Will this work ok with the dual booting and are there any downside to it being on a logical drive?
Is there another/better solution?
I have attached a screen shot of the disk manager
thanks again
