    Blueriver,

Since you already have 4 primary partitions, you will not be able to do this in Disk Management. Instead, you could use the tutorial below to shrink your C: partition, then use that unallocated space between C: and D: to create a logical partition to install Windows 8 onto.

Partition / Extended : Logical Drives

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    hello Brink,

i have been trying to do this so i can install windows 8 on a seperate partition and dual boot with windows 7

i have shrank my C: , and now have 100GB of unallocated space (as seen in screen shot)

now in your tutorial you state to click no if you get a popup saying to change to dynamic ( in screen shot) so i do this but i am still left with my unallocated space, how do i make that to a logical or primary partition?

    thank you.

Hello F4T3, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since you already have 4 primary partitions, you will not be able to create another primary partition with the unallocated space. Instead, you could use the tutorial below to create a logical partition with the unallocated space to then be able to install Windows 8 on. :)

Partition / Extended : Logical Drives

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
