THANK YOU!!!! Just noticed today that my New menu was missing text file and rich text file. Tried many, many solutions to no avail then found the above. Worked like a charm!!!

Edit, now to make it create a Notepad++ file as default.
Edit2, Hmm, .txt files used to have the Notepad++ icon, now Notepad++ opens the file, but the icon is the default Notepad one.

Update: I couldn't find a way to make the icon anything but the default text icon. Until today that is. Without doing anything at all, text file icons are now showing as Notepad++ icons. Weird.......

EDIT: Even stranger, the New Menu also lost the Text Document menu again. I had to use the above to reinstate it. Gotta love MS!

Just wanted to say that I have been trying forever to find a way to fix File Explorer so I have the ability to add a new folder. Yours was the only fix I found that worked. Thanks much

A big thank you for helping me restore my shortcut item which had become corrupted. It was driving me crazy trying to fix it. I did loads of searching and only today found this post via an indirect reference.
