Hello BleepingCrazy,
Do you have Office Word installed? If so, then that is why since it is the default program instead of WordPad to open RTF files with.
Hello BleepingCrazy,

nope...don't have any trace of office on this PC.
I just checked in the reg and the only entry is:
Code:HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.rtf\ShellNew @%ProgramFiles%\Windows NT\Accessories\WORDPAD.EXE,-213
Ok, try the RTF download in this tutorial to restore all of it's default associations to see of that may help with this afterwards. :)
Default File Type Associations - Restore
Once again...THANKS Brink! (Did what you said first, then had to remove > restore > remove > restore to get this one to work)
You're welcome BleepingCrazy. I'm happy to hear that you got it sorted out after a bit of fussing with it. :)
I switched on my computer and discovered that "folder" was missing and "briefcase" was in its place.
I downloaded "Folder_New_Context_Menu_Item.zip file." and installed that to bring back my "folder" but it didn't work.
I can delete/install "briefcase" but I can't bring back "folder" can you help please.
I am not a computer expert - thank you.
Hello Ianeon, and welcome to Seven Forums.
See if using the Folder download option in this tutorial below to restore all of it's default associations may be able to help with this as well.
Default File Type Associations - Restore
If not, then try a system restore using a restore point dated when you know that Folder was still in the New context menu.
Hope this helps,
Shawn
Brink - Thank you very much for that advice.
Your first suggestion worked.
Works perfectly, just wondering anyone figured out why it'd happened?
