Have any of you done this going from a BIOS/MBR machine to a UEFI/GPT machine? That's what I need to do.
I am guessing most new hardware is UEFI? Between what kind of BOOT hardware did you do this?
Which OS did you migrate? Win 7 x64 or 32?
you said the magic word boot , so its not a 2nd ONLY drive with only data you are converting.
and wrong guess, its BOTH, the BIOS still supports both systems. (its in the manuals for the MOBO),in Bios sections.
Convert MBR to GPT Disk without data loss in Windows 8 | 7

How to convert Windows 7 on MBR/BIOS to GPT/UEFI | MPS Partners

    say what needs means.... exactly,>?
all answers 64bit, end to end, no 32, period.
    The installs follows your lead.
windows 8.1 see the BOIS to legacy, mbr.
    and it does so..

in fact i have a old older mobo here. m5a78 no UEIF.
windows 8.1 sees that and create a new MBR.
same thing happens on new machine if you want. it to .

or with old win7 on old HDD (in hand)
put it on new mobo.. go in to bios first
    set legacy boot. bios.
noq exit bios, save and cold boot it.
and the old drive will boot and PNP all the goodies, (make sure internet is active so it can pNP to MS.com)
when all that works? it will.
use cheaper win 8.1 upgrade path. bam 8.1 on MBR.

if you just must have it> GPT. the
    install 8.1 fresh.
    or see my 2 links,...
one way to do this, is to backup everything, and the reformat. then restore.
use Acronis backup. to external huge drive.

what is end goals. forget path,
what is the end system configuration, that YOU want. not some rumors or such...

    win 8.1? 64bit .
need GPT features???? really? name one.?
is data loss an issue, (big time issue for some....)
or dont what to reload, 50 top games?
running autocad/cam or sims. running legacy programs , running video rendering?
or is just used for, SKYPE like my wife, does, just that.

me, i run, win7 64, on SSD, 256gb and a huge HDD with 3 terabytes. with 7 partitions, MBR all
they are, CAD, Data, photos, Program-files. ISO-pit, Games, etc

when i backup its so very very easy, i backup a partition.
even my My documents folder is moved to DATA partition.

i keep nothing on the SSD,
so if i need to up date my OS, i do it fearless.

we do have laptops with w8
mostly for travel.... (lasting up to a month long)

    what is end goal.?

Thanks for the iso and tutorial. I've added the iso to my easy2boot flash drive along with my other image files. Now I can use the free version of Macrium Reflect to restore to dissimilar hardware.

    One More...Thanks

Another hardy "Thank You". I just wanted to swap in a new motherboard. I ran the Paragon software as instructed, powered down and than swapped out the hardware. When I powered up for the first time I got the "initial setup" screen but after a couple of restarts it seems to have updated all of the drivers. I have not had to re-register Windows yet. For what its worth, I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. On an interesting note, Firefox even loaded my old tabs.

You have to run Paragon P2P Adjust OS after swapping the motherboard!

Well, I was a little confused by that. My mistake. Everything does seem to be running fine. It is now about 12 hours later.

Check "device management". Exclamation marks? "Other devices"?
Check which "Display adpater" is listed.... is it a default VGA?

No errors in "device manager" and my Radeon HD 7850 is working fine. In your experiences, is this unusual?

Its been less than one day, but I haven't found any problems. For what its worth, I went from an ASUS to an ASRock motherboard and kept everything else.
