Will do..hopefully the fort won't *crumble*

Hopefully they don't take the battle over here...that exact post above is what they are calling "illegitimate"

...even after posting yesterday about how I CALLED MS AND THEY WALKED ME THROUGH THOSE STEPS EXACTLY!!!

It is just a mess...a mess...
I contribute in both forums and there was a lot of confusion and madness before the launch... even between experts like Paul Thurrot and Harold Wong (a MS employee and blogger)... Wong was Wrong...LOL

Hello,

So I've followed all directions to the letter. Ive made the ISO using the cmd code, successfully.

I'm at the point where I'm trying to burn the 7.iso image to a DVD. Using Vlite 1.1.6, I get a hardware error and the write fails. What other ways can I try to burn to a DVD? There is nothing wrong with my DVD-RW, I tried to burn a few songs to it and it worked just fine, but burning the ISO image to it just isn't working, it starts "closing track" immediately.

Does this FreeISOBurner program work?

I haven't tried the USB option yet, I only have USB's that have 1gb space. But I think I'll have to go out and get a bigger one today if all else fails. This is very frustrating!

Hi Steve,

Try the isoburner linked to the tutorial - it's only tiny and works very well - unzip it - you don't need to install - rt click and run as admin on the .exe.

Set the speed at 4x - see if that does the job.

Let us know how you get on.

Joined the forums to say thanks SIW2! I spent two days messing with it and wasted an hour and a half on the phone with Microsoft's tech support before I found this forum and your post. Worked like a charm the very first time.

Thanks a lot!

Just a thought... since win7 now FINALLY supports .iso burning, is there any way to run the app from the install DVD?

Damn Digital River

I downloaded the 64 bit from Digital River as well and am using Windows XP Pro (32 bit). The problem that I am having is that I get that error message but it does not unpack anything. The error pops up right away and no files are created. This means I cannot even create the image.

Spoke to JD at digital river and he said if it did not install that I would have to talk to the tech support and gave me what was supposedly Digital River's Tech support. Lying agent actually gave me Microsoft's number and they were closed.

I called today and spoke to Snigdha for over an hour. She had me do the following steps:

- Checked properties of file - They are not read only
- Checked the user accounts - Admin and guest only
- tried launching again, same error
- Tried from another location - Already done, same error
- Redownload - Already done. Downloaded 3 times already

No luck. She also remote connected to my computer to take a look and was not able to do anything at all to resolve the issue.

She setup a callback for tomorrow since their research team is overwhelmed and had no callbacks available for today. Has anyone been able to fix this issue?

Still, no luck. This time around I get another (unknown) Hardware error - see screenshot.

I was asked if I wanted to Erase media before starting, but it was a brand new, blank disc right out of the package. I'm using TDK DVD-RW 4x speed with 4.7g

I dont suppose it matters what kind of DVD you use? Maybe it does.

Hi Darryl,

Sure, if you are on 7 already - you can use the built in isoburner to burn the .iso you just made to dvd.

You can use any isoburner for that.

Make drive non-bootable.
OK, this is a weird request so here it goes. I had a RAID1-01 set of boot-able 500g drives plus another 500g drive for backup. One of the drives failed so I bought 2 each 1tb drives. Replaced the failed drive and let the RAID1 rebuild. I then decided to replace the good 500g drive with the...
