bootable DVD portion ran fine, however even though support page claims all you need is 4GB free and I have 4.4GB free I errored out... see below:

I cant sacrifice the data on this baby as its my day to day flash drive... or maybe I will just temporarily move files to HDD to test... Hmmmm
It says on the page of the tool that it requires that the USB tool to be empty

Great - you are not likely to have that issue on another machine - let's hope...

Yane:

It worked fine to create a bootable DVD for me.

Apparently their instructions are incorrect! It says you need at least 4GB of free space on a USB... to me implying your data will remain intact...

I cleared off more space on my USB flash and still I am told I need to format USB. So I am now...

Wow that finished fast and I have confirmed it bootable! A nice utility from MS!

Here are more screen shots, notice how my flash icon now shows as if it were the DVD...

I know, I know... I need to clear up some space on my BKUP drive!

Thanks, I figured that out... and my eyes must have stopped at:

What size USB flash drive is required?
You need a USB flash drive with a minimum of 4 GB of free space.

Hi Darryl,

Glad to hear it.

I have quite a few of these things - they come with the Paragon apps. You can browse to any .iso and burn to dvd or make bootable flash drive .

They are doing an excellent free Drive Backup and Recovery app.

Hey. I tried following this tutorial, I threw all the files into the root of my C Drive and ran the command. However, the file it generates is only 200 MB. Is this correct? I thought the iso should be around 4 GB?

That's too small, obviously - did you get any messages in the command window ?

Did you check the size of the expandedsetup folder?

My .iso is 2.34GB, sounds like something went wrong with your unpack?

2 OS method

I got it working on Wednesday but was too tired to repost. The problem I had was that my vista business 32-bit computer would not completely unpack the setup file, stopping at about a 1/4 of the way on the progress bar. So I took the file over to my windows xp home comp, and it was able to completely unpack the file and then give the error about being unable to run. The command prompt dialogue to create the iso wouldn't work on the xp computer, so I brought the now fully unpacked "expandedSetup" folder back over to the vista 32-bit computer where the command prompt successfully made the .iso and burned it to a disc. So for anyone still having issues if you have two computers with xp and vista, you can try that method.

Make drive non-bootable.
OK, this is a weird request so here it goes. I had a RAID1-01 set of boot-able 500g drives plus another 500g drive for backup. One of the drives failed so I bought 2 each 1tb drives. Replaced the failed drive and let the RAID1 rebuild. I then decided to replace the good 500g drive with the...
