Make bootable iso from student d/l

Hi guys!

I'm close to lose my mind now, having tried to figure out what I'm doing wrong for about 7 hrs

OK, I bought Windows 7 Professional 64bit for Students.
Currently, I'm running Windows Vista Premium 32bit.
I have downloaded the 3 files (Windows 7-HP-Retail-en-us-x64.exe, setup1.box, setup2.box) and unblocked them.

I run as admin the .exe file got all files as shown in the tutorial.
I also downloaded oscdimg.exe, extracted it and moved to C:\Windows\system32
I opened elevated command prompt and run the correct commands. As a result I got 7.ISO file.
I downloaded Windows 7 USB/DVD Download and used it to create bootable USB FLASH DRIVE
I opened my BIOS and changed the External Drive Boot to ENABLED and Boot Priority Order so that USB FLASH is first.
I inserted my bootable USB drive into the laptop and restarted the system. Sony Vaio logo appeared as usual and than the message:
"Remove disk or other media. Press any key to restart". When I do that Vista starts as usual.

I REALLY have no idea what's going on.... PLEASE HELP!

Sounds like Bios isn't set up properly.

Not sure what bios options these oem's allow.

It has to be in there somewhwere - take a look and see if you can find any other settings for usb devices.

Is there something that says "boot from usb hard drive" or or similar?

You could try PLOP also - If you want to give it a go - I will explain how to add it to bcd :

I am running XP, but the .iso file I create is only about 180 MBs big. When I burned a dvd it said files were still corrupt...any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I thought I followed everything...

Check the size of expandedsetup folder.

It's about 171 MBs....

Ok, so I've followed all instructions up until it directs me to right click and run as admin. Once I do that I see a block DOS looking pop up very quickly and it just disappears in less than a second. Does anyone know what is wrong???

Thanks so much! Worked for me, and for all of you still debating whether or not you can actually format the drive and start clean, yes you can. Just make sure you format from within the installation.
