Hello Jff02, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Yes, you will be able to use the same options in the tutorial to do a clean install with that student upgrade copy of Windows 7. A student copy is basically the same as a retail copy, but discounted for students. :)

    Thanks Brink!
And would you think ~75 dollars for a copy of windows 7 professional be a reasonably good deal? And should if I get this, should I just follow the tutorial and try option 1-4 in that order? Again, I appreciate your help :)

    You're most welcome Jff02.

    That's not a bad price.

However, you would do either one of options 1-4 instead.

Thanks again for the help Brink,
Also my wording must of been poor. I meant to ask if the 4 options are arranged by preference. meaning that option one would be the best, and option four being the one to try if all else fails.

And to just super-clarify this again since it will still be a hefty investment (sorry if im being annoying), i am installing this upgrade version of windows 7 professional on a "white box" new customer computer without any previous OS installed on the hard drive. My CPU is going to be an AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, which i assume is compatible with 64 bit?

    Hello again,
Since shipping is pretty ridiculous on the copy I was looking at, so I'm wondering if WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM UPGRADE 32/64 RETAIL VERSION | eBay might also work for my situation?

It would, but personally, I wouldn't recommend buying anything like this off of eBay. You just never know if the product key is still valid or being used on other computers leaving you high and dry.

Good point. But after browsing some more, purchasing eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
should be significantly safer? Very good seller rating + the package is sealed.
again, thanks for the advice brink
