Disk Defragmenter Schedule- Turn On or Off

    Ok simple but could be worth adding to the tutorial
    Disk Defragmenter > will show disks including SSDs
    Configure Schedule > Select Disk ......will hopefully show the SSD has been excluded from the scheduled defragmentation

    Oh Shawn meant to ask before does this go for chkdsk on SSD's too?

    Seems to be whole new set of rules with these drives but hey are they nice

    John,

    It wouldn't hurt anything to run chkdsk on a SSD, but it's no longer needed for a SSD since it's not going to do anything for it.

    Brink , i hear from everyone said , don't often defrag because that can reduce your notebook harddisk lifespan , is that true?
    and after i analyze is 8% , need to defrag?

    Hello sle3pingz,

    That's more true for a SSD than a HDD. It's not going to hurt anything to occasionally defrag your HDD as needed. Usually around 10%. Leaving the defrag schedule turned on for your HDD is not going to hurt anything since it will keep you HDD defragged as needed automatically.

    ok , when i booting i feel lookslike is slow , and when i play some video sometimes is freeze, then can i try to do defrag at 7% ? or better at 10% ?

    Either one is fine to defrag at.

    However, the issues you described would most likely not be caused by only a small percentage of defragmentation though. This would could be due to several reasons. One could be how powerful your system is or not.

    I would recommend that you fill out your full system specs for us to see if that may be, and create a new thread about these issue to see if we may be able to help with them if you like. :)

    Is that ok? I have Corsair Force GT 120GB, but i see that schedule doesn't defragment my ssd, so i don't need to turn off schedule, right? Sorry for my bad english
