My laptop has 1G (1000 megs!) and yet ReadyBoost clearly makes it more snappy and responsive. But not nearly as much as running Linux on the same hardware.
Linux is far more responsive on 1G than Win7 with or without ReadyBoost. Personally I am fine with running Linux only, but I have some responsibilities that involve running Windows, so anything to speed that up is nice.

Yes, with 1GB of RAM installed ReadyBoost will help your performance, but not as much as adding more RAM instead. That's all I was saying mate. :)
You might also check the items in this tutorial to see if they may be able to help performance some more as well.

I have a 8 GB Flash Drive but I also have 2-3 gigs of files in it. Btw, I can't put more than 2 GB in my inspiron and I alread have 2gb RAM in it so if I use ready boost, let's say I use two gigs from my flash drive. Would it work? Can I still store files on my flash drive.

Yes, you will be able to have your 8GB USB flash drive to be used with ReadyBoost, and still be able to store files on it.
However, you may not notice any difference in performance though since you do have 2 GB of RAM. ReadyBoost is mostly meant for systems that do not meet the required amount of RAM installed.

Ok. Some people, including on this forum, have been able to install more RAM on Inspiron E1505, so well it doesnt hurt to try.
Um, noticed a bit of a difference but not that much though.
Please if you like add some more information about this. I recently used a 16GB memory stick and I only 4GB where available for readyboost.... And that because I had to change file system:
From fat32 to Ntfs (or maybe exfat) to use more or all available memory
