Did you check everything that was posted in that thread for your time issue?

Will continue that issue in that thread though. :)

Does the SP1 images support UEFI boot or will I have to format my disk again, or rip the EFI folder from the other disc to make them boot into UEFI mode?

    Hey Honeycomb,

You could use the W7 SP1 ISO files to create a UEFI USB if you like.
If it's not already UEFI, then it'll need to be a clean install to have UEFI.

Repair install to Win7 installation on a different partition ?

(For sure this has been asked before, but my search-fu is failing me, ATM.)

I think that what I want to do is what is outlined in this tutorial, but I want to do the Repair Install to a non-booting Windows 7 (64 bit) installation on a different physical drive (my SSD) than the drive to which I can currently boot. That is, I can currently boot to an older installation of Windows 7 on one partition, but the Win7 installation (my main one) is on another drive and it will not boot. If I run through the tutorial, will I be given the option of repairing the Win7 installation on the SSD, or will it only repair Win7 on the partition from which I have booted? Probably a dumb question, but the tutorial has me thinking it's the latter and I don't want to mess with the only working OS on my PC. Is there a way to run through the Repair Install process for a Win7 installation on a different drive?

Further details in case it's helpful: My PC came with Windows Vista on a 2 disk RAID drive. I Purchased an SSD a couple years ago. So I upgraded to Win7 on the original drives and then ghosted everything over to the SSD and made it the primary/active drive. All was well until a recent graphics card swap (which I had done successfully without boot issues using the same cards many times before) and now Windows would not boot - I just see the blinking cursor after the BIOS screens. (No idea if that was even related to the graphics card issue, it just happened after one of the swaps.) So, I used the BIOS boot options to boot to the older install of Win7 and it booted fine. But, the drive manager couldn't see the partitions on the SSD and wanted to initialize it! Instead, I ran the MiniTool Partition Wizard and recovered the partitions on the SSD. That drive seemed fine now. But, making the OS partition on the SSD the primary active partition still resulted in the same boot fail.

I created a repair disc (CD) for Windows 7 and booted from it. It noticed some problem with a boot manager and fixed it. But, Startup Repair found no problem with Win7 on my SDD, which still will not boot. :-( That is why I am hoping I can do a repair install.

Any help or link to another thread that addressed this problem would be much appreciated.

Hello MrZork, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm sorry, but a repair install can only be done from within the running Windows that you are wanting to repair.

You might create a new thread for this issue in the "General Discussion" area to see if we may be able to help with it.

Thank you, Brink. I will post my question in General. I meant (and then forgot) to ask which area would be appropriate if Repair Install wasn't the right approach. Thanks for anticipating that!

Have an Acer Aspire One 722 netbook with OEM 64 bit Home Premium SP1 on it. Installer is screwed up and won't install .net so after trying what countless others suggested about that problem to no avail I decided to try a repair install. Got the X17-58997.iso linked to in the OP and mounted it on a virtual CD drive and also burned it to USB. In either case when I run setup.exe I get the screen at step 8 of the tutorial and after clicking "Install now" it goes through getting files, says install is starting and then just returns to the step 8 screen. I can't get past that to step 9. Any advice appreciated.

P.S. I went through the first 54 of the 139 pages in this thread looking for an answer before giving up and posting. Sorry if I'm redundant.
