Brink, I tried to repair install using Windows 7 with SP1 ISO burned to a disk. Unfortunately, it won't let me activate on the Internet.

Repair Install-imag0003.jpg

I had this same activation key since Launch Day, October 2009! There should be no reason for me to buy a new one or to call into a call center in India to get it resolved. And it told me that I can't upgrade in-place on top of it when I tried to go back to my original Windows 7 DVDs. In frustration I crushed the SP1 DVD by my own hand.

I would have went back to process a WGA report, but now it looks like I have to go back and clean install everything, before Service Pack 1 was ever introduced.

Have a look at this,

Windows 7 activation error: 0xC004C008

Has anyone here had any luck recently downloading a file such as this one:

**DIRECT DOWNLOAD LINK REMOVED**

I've tried twice now, and the 1st time I got a 1,702,257 KB file on disk, and the 2nd time I got an iso of only 831,602 KB on disk, where it's supposed to be 3+GB AFAICT. What's odd, besides that the downloads seemed to complete w/o error, is that these isos mount as if they were complete, but they obviously are not (ImgBurn wants to write them as their "on disk" sizes).

Maybe I need to try Free Download Manager instead of Firefox next time???

Hello Max,

How does downloading it work in Internet Explorer instead?

I was able to successfully download the file with FreeDownloadManager. Don't know why Firefox and IE10 didn't work...

Say, a question: Has anyone here ever tried a Repair Install, checking the "Go Online get the latest Updates.." in Step 9 who has a WSUS server? I imagine the disc by itself couldn't know to bypass the Windows Update site but thought I'd ask anyway.

Another: if I run the Setup.exe to the splash screen where it says Windows 7 - Install Now do you think I can be confident that my download-and-burn-to-DVD is good?

Max,

Don't have a WSUS server to test with.

If you got the "Install Now" screen, then there's a very good chance that it's good.
