Windows 7: Repair Install

Thanks. The .Net Framework will be a problem. Every reboot gives a "Setup has detected that the .net Framework v4.5 needs to be repaired..." Yet, I still need to download/install v4.0 (at least!).

Looks like it may be a manual attempt at finding and installing v4.5.

Brink,

Thanks for the ongoing assistance.

The direct download had a fatal error. I followed online links to 4.5.1, with the same result. Next, I found .NET Framework Cleanup Tool User's Guide - Aaron Stebner's WebLog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

The repair tool failed. So, I've unistalled ALL .NET Frameworks components. Trying to reinstall...

Totally failed.

I have some sort of corrupt .NET Framework install. Sigh. One problem leads to another. The .NET uninstaller log showed that it worked, yet I cannot get the .NET v4.5.1 install to work.

Interestingly, my antivirus, shutoff during the repair install, will not open without .NET Framework v4. (Kaspersky).

Now I am suspicious of malware...

I would recommend to bite the bullet, and do a clean install instead.

Re-ran the .NET Framework uninstaller tool again. This time, I selected each version of .NET Framework one at a time, starting from the newest (v4.5.1) and running backwards through v4.0. (The next one shown is v2.0. No v3.0 on W7 install???)

Trying to install v4.5.2...

I dodged the bullet you wanted me to bite.

The install of 4.5.2 worked. Then Windows Update wanted to update them (and allowed IE11 to take); Kaspersky worked. No error message about .NET Framework on restart.

Finally, the whole reason I did this, I re-ran sfc /scannow.... No integrity violations.

Woot.

Me, 1; Windows, 0.

Thanks!

I've done a lot of these but can't remember what to do when I get the "Current version of Windows is more recent then the Version you are trying to upgrade to...."
The PC has Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1.
The DVD is "GRMCHPXFRER_EN_DVD " which I have marked W-7 HP SP1 OK for I/R (My Markings)
Is this the right one?

Hello Pete,

Unfortunately, the installation is usual more up to date with Windows Updates than the installation media.

If you don't have a restore point available for the issue, then you may need to do a clean install instead.
