Hello Guys. Ok, there are no stupid questions, right? Got a prob with my win7 home premium (Gateway oem os) after doing a cmd check disk one night. OS is still usable, as I am using it now BUT have a second (same model) computer with the same win7 OS to rely on if need be. Tried fairly dated system restore, NO go. Looks like a windows system error, e.g. clicking a link not open the url, so am forced to right click, then open in new tab. First, I have the Gateway Model SX2855 computer, and also had acquired that OEM set of dvd's/cd's titled: [1] "System Disc" (1 each), [2] "Recovery Disc" (4 each) and [3] a single "Language Disc". Second, also made repair disc (3 dvd's) from the Gateway recovery program installed on the computer. Seriously contemplating doing a windows repair (a first time experience here!). The initial "stupid" question is what does a "repair disc" mean in that I have e.g. 4 cd's which seem to be referred to as a singular "disc". Whats up with that "disc" lingo? The other matter is the term "installation disc". I know these "recovery" disc's result in installation of the original windows 7 on this computer, so can these "recovery" cd's disc be used to do a repair of the existing win7 OS program for what appears to be minimal damage? Might have more questions, but if this is too far off topic (seems ok to me right now) just let me know & I will follow directions accordingly. Thanks much all you guys & most certainly you too Brink! Diligent
