I'm glad it could help. :)
I am running Win7 HP 32bit
I have a copy of Digital River Win7 Pro 32bit ISO
Can I use the ISO to do a repair install ?
If so, are there any tricks I need to know to use the DVD of the ISO ?
Would appreciate some help

My apologies for not reading through the thread
There are 105 pages to this thread, this PC wont last that long before it falls over
I am not sure about the Digital River stuff mate and I am not sure about a repair install but here you can download the free ISO Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
I have used ISO's from here with no problems as long as you have that activation code.
No special tricks needed mate just make the DVD bootable and install from it as you would a Microsoft DVD:)
The Repair Install to a 64 bit version of W7 Pro went pretty much okay (I DID have to right click on setup.exe and check to compatibility issues) until it finally finished Transferring Files, Settings, etc (the last step).
Then it slapped up an error message Windows could not configure one or more system components. To install Windows restart the computer and then restart the installation.
After said restart I get another message The upgrade was not successful. Your previous version of Windows is being restored.
What does it want me to do know? It finally got finished 'restoring'. Won't I get the same result if I try the Repair Install yet again?
Hello boweasel, :)
Most likely, you'll end up getting the same result if you try again.
You might see if the log file below may be able to reveal a more detailed explanation.

The Windows Update issue with Win7 was first fixed by installing the KB3161608 update rollup and later replaced by the KB3172605 update rollup. Either KB3161608 or KB3172605 requires minimum KB3020369 servicing stack update installed first or these update rollups will refuse to install.
I'm currently dong a repair install of Win7 SP1 x64 on my family's Dell Inspiron 620 desktop PC and it seems to be stuck on "gathering files, settings and programs" section at 0% for at least 2 hours. I may as well wait several hours like Jblumhorst did when he did a Win7 repair install on his computer.
I used my OEM win 7x64 home premium disk to try a repair install. It failed due to the installed win 7 sp1 being a newer version of windows than my install disk. I then tried to download an ISO of win 7 from MS using my product key but was told that the key was oem or from a computer maker and to contact them. Well I built it myself and I'm in constant contact with the manufacturer
Any recommendations?
I was kind of afraid of that. Oh well, a nine year run with out reinstalling the os is pretty good.
I guess win update should take care of building it back up to sp1 again correct?
