Unfortunately when I try to do a clean install it fails with the error shown in the attachment. It says it can't copy required files which may be missing or corrupt. I assume it is talking about copying files from the dvd install disk. It is the original disk, and is in good physical shape. I don't know how files on a dvd could be corrupted.

Sorry for poor quality of the screen shot.

Are you doing the clean install at boot from installation media (ex: USB flash drive)?

No. I'm doing it while in Windows by putting the installation dvd in the dvd player and then hitting setup from the window that comes up. I'll switch the boot device to the dvd and try it at boot.

Edit:. I tried it at boot but it would not complete. Then I formatted the drive/partition. I was then informed that setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing one. So I'm stuck and can't continue.

Do you get an error message?

For now, you might see if the method below may help.

Shawn may I ask the OP Caramelo if he is cleaning the drive between installs ?? as I am not a fan of just letting it format or formatting it myself maybe there I a little corruption going on??

It is just as fast as formatting in my mind and many times better Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command - Windows 7 Help Forums > unless you use the clean all of course.

Brink, I was trying that tutorial but at step one I did get an error message that said that setup could not make a partition or use one that was already there. I was trying to install on disk one, partition one after I formatted the disk.

ICT2LPL, I'm now following the instructions on this page Setup was unable to create a new system partition Solved - Windows 7 Help Forums
To clean and partition.
I am a bit confused about what to do after cleaning the disk. I know that I have to create the primary partition but do I have to specify a size for it?

The error message from your screenshot above indicates that your installation media may be corrupted. You may need to create a new Windows 10 installation USB or DVD.

After cleaning the disk, you should be able to boot from your installation media, and select the now "unallocated" disk to install Windows on.

As Brink has said mate I use just the unallocated disk after cleaning because the formatting and partitioning will be set up by Windows as it installs.

Also as Brink has said you need to make a new media for that install and if you choose a DVD to do that then make sure the burn speed is set to as low as possible 4x is my max and I prefer to use something like 2.4x or less. Takes just a little but longer of course but it saves a lot of grief. As for sticks I am not a fan and don't usually use them for this (unless you have no optical drive of course) know if that principal applies I shouldn't think so because it is physically a a different form of data transfer.

I cleaned the disk and widows setup says it can't create a partition or use the one that is there.
The media is the original disc that I bought to install win7. I don't believe that it is corrupt.

I can't download or make another because it's an OEM disc and Ms won't let me download with that product code.

Something is preventing setup from using disc 0 partition 1 for installation.
