windows 7 is good but there are too much restrictions
Sorry to hear that one! auggie 7 walks right past XP and is an improvement over Vista still.
Auggie:
You can do a system restore (to an earlier saved restore point) from the installation disk.
I know because I just did one. Took me two hours to figure out how... but it works.
i have followed the steps but every time ia pop window appear and it's says an error happened check the source of installation cant' remember exactly what was said and the re is this number 0xe00001000
Hello Chuckybride, and welcome to Seven Forums.
Without all of the error messages it's hard to say, but you may have a bad installation DVD. See if creating a new one may work better for you instead.
Hope this helps,
Shawn
Hi ya'll, new here,
I have Windows 7 and only 7 installed on my Sager NP9662 (bought off ebay and only had 7, no Vista dual-boot).
Some problem arose when I tried to shut down my notebook and it wouldn't shut down. It stayed on the shut down screen for over 10 minutes when it normally shuts down within 10 seconds. I held down the power button and forced it to turn off. When I restarted, the notebook went to the boot options menu (Safe Mode, Last Known Good etc). I tried to start Windows normally and it loaded some, then crashed down to Windows Error Recovery, with the options Launch Startup Repair and Start Windows normally. I tried to Launch the Startup Repair and it says Loading Files on the bottom. After it loads, it crashes (and restarts automatically back to Windows Error Recovery).
The same problems happen when I try to Start Windows Normally.
So, I don't want to lose the data on the Sager, as in, I really really don't want to lose any data... at all, so now I'm stuck with no recovery options.
I've tried F8, Advanced Boot Options.... Last Known Good Config... I've tried the Restore Mode and that didn't load...
I've downloaded the Windows 7 Beta iso and burnt it to a DVD already. I tried to see if there was a repair option on the install, but it seems like it's only giving me the "clean install" option...
Any help?
Thanks, Tim
Hi Tim, and welcome to Seven Forums.
Unfortunately, you can only do a repair install from within the running Windows 7 since it is a upgrade install. It cannot be done at boot.
You might see if doing a System Restore at boot using a restore point dated before you had this problem may help though.
Hope this helps,
Shawn
Directory Services Restore Mode?
That doesn't load, it says "loading files" then restarts the computer (because it crashed)
Or are you talking about something else?
