Thanks Stevieray. I'll give that a try
I can't get this to work
it says I am trying to upgrade to a previous version of windows 7 and aborts
how can I stop it doing this?
Hello Jools,
What type of Windows 7 do you have installed?
For example, full or upgrade, and factory preinstall OEM, retail, retail OEM, student, anytime upgrade, etc.....
Hi
I am not sure how I can tell
My disc is windows 7 professional 64 bit, and it says licensed for distribution with a new pc if that helps
Did it come with your computer, or how did you purchase it (online, retail store, etc...)?
Does it have OEM or Student anywhere on the disc?
The disc was with my pc, but it was built for me by a company
No oem or student on the disc
Ah, it's a "Anytime Upgrade" disc. Others have been able to do a repair install using one of these. Did it give you a reason in the abort message?
If you have SP1 Currently installed, then see if you may be able to using step 5 in the tutorial.
the reason it gave was something along the lines of 'Your current version is more up to date than the version you are trying to install'
If step 5 doesn't work for you, then it looks like you will not be able to do a repair install.
I get this message
The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.
Your current version of Windows is more recent than the version you are trying to upgrade to. Windows cannot complete the upgrade.
