    Hello Ben,

Just to make sure, are you selecting to a "Upgrade" and not a "Custom" install at step 8. If do, what is the message it is giving you?

Since you are wanting to have a new install, you might consider doing a clean install with a upgrade copy of Windows 7. You will have to reinstall all programs and drivers afterwards, but you will have a new install.

It doesn't ask me either, it goes right into installing.

What type of installation media are you using?

For example: retail, OEM, factory OEM, and full or upgrade.

It is a retail disc. However, it is an upgrade that I am trying to install onto because I upgraded from Home Premium.

No, I wanted to do a repair install so that I don't have to do any reinstalling of programs. I upgraded to Pro using the upgrade key and wanted to do the repair install using a Pro disc. Is there any reason I can't do that?

It doesn't appear that you will be able to. There must be some sort of conflict not allowing you to do the repair install for how it's outlined in the tutorial. I'm not sure what it could be since you normally should be able to do a repair install with a retail upgrade installation DVD.

Double check the items listed in the red warning box at the top of the tutorial just to see if any of them may apply to you, and be a reason why.
