    That didn't work!

Having a problem here still - it gets into step 13, but stops and says "Setup can't continue. Restart the computer and restart setup. When prompted, try getting the latest updates."

I've done that twice, and it's downloaded a relatively small file.
What updates do you suppose its looking for?

Why are you doing a "repair install"?

Try Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup and then do a "repair install". Of course revert back to normal boot afterwards. Works?

If also failing: create another user account and logon with that account and do the "repair install". Post results.

It won't install and of the MS updates - hence the need for the repair process.

    Hello Rick,

Depending on what may be wrong with your Windows Update, you might see if using Option Three in the tutorial below to completely reset Windows Update may help.

    Windows Update - Reset

    Hope this helps. :)

Nope - the update reset didn't remedy the problem either.

    Hi Brink
thanks for all your help, I'm back up and running now it is almost like it's new again, except for the fact that i can no longer access HP Recovery Manager but it was a necessary sacrifice. Thanks again
