So it looks like any W-7 that doesn't have a restore point beyond ??/??/???? is SOL for the Install/Repair?

Pretty much anyone that has a newer installation than their installation media is SOL for a repair install.

Is this a result of Digital River being no longer available?

Nar, it's always been like that, but newer ISO versions used to be released that will let you. Since you can no longer get an ISO from Digital River, it makes it harder to get a new ISO.

Hi, just to be clear, is the Windows 7 Universal Installation Disc (with x86 and x64) not valid for this? It gives me a compatiblity report saying
    • You can't upgrade from a 32bits version to a different 64 bits version.
    • You can't upgrade from a 64bits version to a different 32 bits version.

It goes without saying I'm selecting to install the same version I have running. Is the system getting confused for having so many different sources? Should I make an ISO with only 1 version?

Is my last hope to avoid clean install

Hello Danath, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sorry, but no with universal installation discs just for the issues you are having with it.

The installation media must be either 64-bit or 32-bit, and a single edition.

You can use the "Search this tutorial" option in the toolbar at the top of the tutorial.

    Hello Daivddd,

    Sorry, but no.

You would need to clean install Windows 7 instead.
