    What about cut/paste?

Try to take ownership of just that file if that doesn't work,

Take Ownership - Add to Context Menu in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

You do need to move it before opening it.

When I said I could not read or copy the file, I also meant that cut/paste is not allowed. If you can imagine a procedure on Windows that requires reading a file, then I cannot do it with that .dmp file. Even in safe mode. Even after installing your reg fix that puts "Take Ownership" in the context menu (I used the "pause" version to insure that the action was successful. It says it was successful yet I still lack permission to read/copy/move/open this .dmp file.) The "Take Ownership" function in the context menu does not seem to work at all on this .dmp file. I will continue trying to get at this file. I do not understand why an Administrator account has such limited permissions in Win10 compared to Win7. (I skipped Win8 so I cannot comment on that.)

    Run this tool,

BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums

It will create a folder on your desktop with the dump in it. (Along with other files)

Thank you! It worked! I can access the .dmp file now. Is there a command I can enter in the command prompt to grab the files from C:\Windows\Minidump like that tool? Does it take ownership, or just circumvent permissions entirely?

You're welcome, I'm not sure what the command would be, I know it elevates to admin privileges, and then copies from root to desktop.

I installed the debugging tool in a non-system partition (E) as my system partition is almost full, and downloaded the symbol (Retail_x64) package as well. But when I run the test fill, I always get the "win32 error 0n193" error. I searched online but only find I should use a "correct debugger". I have also tried to follow the official instruction at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/315263. What's strange, the cd command does not even let me go into partition E. Nothing works out so far. Any idea?

Colin just had to reinstall my Toshiba and one of the usual set ups is this tutorial.

Now I installed the original Pro version back on and I am not complaining but the dump when I click on it comes up instantaneously whereas the other machines have Debuggy not working or something similar flashing for a while would the Pro version be the reason for this. Like I say I am not complaining and I wish all my machines were as quick any thoughts??

PS the onlyother difference between thismachien and the others is that ithas the Samsung 850 Pro while the others have the 850 EVO.
