So will this method still allow you to pin working shortcut icons to the taskbar?

I heard some of these methods disable the ability to do that.

    Hello GWT,

Yes, you will still be able to "Pin to Taskbar" after removing the shortcut arrow using this method. :)

    Hello Patio,

Could you give more details and a screenshot to help ID what you mean by breaking the desktop icons? This way I can be sure of what your problem may be. :)

    Patio,

Are these only shortcuts on the desktop that are affected, or all shortcuts everywhere?

Do the shortcuts still work when you use them?

Are you able to create a new shortcut for the messed up ones and have it display properly afterwards?

    Only Desktop shortcuts are affected...
    The shortcuts still function...
Creating new ones show the same results.

NOTE: I even tried changing the shortcut icons...no go.

Um, it sounds like you may need to do a repair install since your other shortcuts do not look like this at other locations, and creating new shortcuts directly from the EXE file or original folder does not help.

    Yep.
Fortunately i'm not far into this install...i finally got around to installing my Ultimate copy from the Win7Launch party...i waited for awhile since they only gave out the 32bit ver. at the Seminar.
So i was content running the RC with time left on it.
I had forgot that i e-mailed them right after the Event commenting them on a well run gig and mentioned i was slightly dissappointed with no 64bit ver.....months went by and i honestly forgot about it.
Monday i recieved a package with the 64 bit DVD inside ! !

Who says they don't get it right ? ?
    I was impressed.

Thanx for your help on this Brink and i'll keep you posted...
    patio.
