How to Enable Slow Motion Aero Effect in Windows 7
Note
In Windows 7 and Windows Vista, the Aero effect has a small delay of some milliseconds when minimizing, maximizing , closing and flipping Windows. This will show you how to manually force a delay on this effect to view it in slow motion.
Warning
You must be logged on as an Administrator to perform this tutorial.
Option One
Through a download
1. To Enable Slow Motion Aero Effect with Shift Key -
A) Download this file below:
B) Go to step 3.
2. To Undo Slow Motion Aero Effect with Shift Key -
A) Download this file below:
3. Open the
.reg file you just downloaded. When prompted whether to import the data to the registry or not, select "
YES".
4. Log off and log back on.
5. If enabled, while holding down the
Shift key, minimize, open, close, or restore any window. Notice the effect. Video is included at the bottom of the post. You can also use Windows Flip 3D by pressing
CTRL+WinKey+Tab, then holding down the
Shift key, click to maximize the windows.
Option Two
The Manual Way
1. Open regedit and navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM.
2. To Enable Slow Motion Aero Effect with Shift Key -
A) In the right pane, right click on a empty space and click on
New and
Dword (32-bit) Value.
B) Rename the new value to
AnimationsShiftKey.
C) Double click the AnimationShiftKey and type
1 in place of
0.
2. To Undo Slow Motion Aero Effect with Shift Key -
A) In the right pane, right click on AnimationsShiftKey and click on Delete.
B) Click on Yes to approve deletion.
3. Close regedit, log off and back on.
4. If enabled, while holding down the
Shift key, minimize, open, close, or restore any window. Notice the effect. Video is included at the bottom of the post. You can also use Windows Flip 3D by pressing
CTRL+WinKey+Tab, then holding down the
Shift key, click to maximize the windows.
