It turns out I can get essentially what I want by using God mode, documented e.g. here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Window...Panel_shortcut. Of course, I still don't know what has to be run to get that list (i.e., the troubleshooting list that god mode displays). Currently, the troubleshooting list is in the last group of items displayed by god mode.
