Success - took a couple of beers to scroll down that far but found it. Thanks for sticking with me and your help. Have a cure for some desktop shortcut icons turning into Windows globes? Have done the right click in the tool bar - Open IME deal - works on most but not all of them.

Mine was in "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\video"
Now it works :)
