Very useful, thanks. Is it normal to not see the window saying it completed successfully (or not) with either style shortcut?

Yep, it's normal. You are not suppose to get a "Successfully completed" type message with either shortcut. :)

Hmmm, I prefer the message just so I know not to start something till it completes though it looks like it will generate an error message if needed.

Any chance it can be written so it does generate it? Till then, I'll use a shortcut to %SystemRoot%\System32\SystemPropertiesProtection.exe.

There too, any any chance a switch could be added to auto-click the 6th link in the 4th tab, at least that is where my "Create" button is?

I'll look into it to seeing what I may be able to do for that. For now to help, if you do not get a error message when using these shortcuts, then it was successful in creating the restore point. :)

The main purpose of not getting the successfully complete message for these shortcuts, especially the instant create shortcut, is to be able to quickly create restore points say using scripts or Task Scheduler to run the shortcuts to create a restore point automatically in the background.

Ok, I have added step 4 in OPTION ONE for a shortcut that will ask you for a description, create the restore point, and give a "successfully completed" message afterwards. It's basically the same as creating a restore point through the System Properties -> System Protection window. :)

I have tried to do the shortcut both with and without the success message and I get the error message:

For shortcut with success message)
Can't find script engine "VBScript" "C:\Program Files\Restore Point Shortcut\CreateRP-Success_Message.vbs".

For shortcut w/o success message)
Can't find script engine "VBScript" "C:\Program Files\Restore Point Shortcut\CreateRP.vbs".

Please let me know if you have any ideas.
