There's no need to have to create a new task. You can modify the existing task to meet your needs instead. This tutorial below is for Vista, but it is the same in Windows 7. I suppose Option Two would be the one to modify what time you would like for the restore point to be created.

    Hope this helps,

This task is for Vista and so it wouldn't work for Win7...When I tried to run this task, it didn't create any point...

    Hello Natri,

Windows 7 has the same task included as Vista did for System Restore. If you look at the Triggers tab in the task in the tutorial, you will see that you can modify the time that you want Windows 7 to automatically create the restore point. Of course the computer needs to be running at that time for Windows 7 to create one at the time you scheduled.

You may need to try this, cause even when I right clicked to run it on demand, the process just did nothing...so be it when I restart or the trigger automatic start itself

    Natri,

Under the General tab for the task, check the "Run with highest privileges" box. Also double check to make sure that System Protection is turned on for the C: drive. This will run in the background, so it may take a few moments to complete if it runs before it shows up as an available restore point if there are were any changes since the last restore point was made.

Does it create a restore point for you when you do it manually as described in this tutorial for the shortcut, or in this tutorial?

    Hello Natri,

Sorry it took me a bit, but here you go. It is included as step 2 (OPTION ONE) in the tutorial.
