Ruth,
Here's the link from HP on how to. It should be the same in Windows 7 as well. :)
Using HP Backup and Recovery Manager in Vista - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
I'm going to have to return the computer. I continue to get the box requesting a password and I don't have it. Thanks anyway.
Ruth,
You should be able to do so using this option there though.
On startup, press f11 to launch Recovery Manager.
That's useless unless I can create a backup disc, isn't it?
I can't create a backup disc because a password is required and I'm afraid to do the f11 thing in case it kills the computer.
At step 5 below there, you will have an option to create a backup first.
"When prompted, select the Back up your files first (recommended) option, and then click Next . Follow the on-screen instructions."
Well, I finally got my problem solved. I ended up calling Office Depot and they gave me the password into the administrator's account. I truly appreciate your patience and your prompt responses! Thank you so much! I hope you have a lovely day!
You're welcome Ruth. I'm happy to hear that you got it sorted. Thank you for posting back with your results. :)
Ruth, I was following this thread. I am so glad to learn you are up and running. Thank you for letting us know.
hey guys a quick question..by enabling the admin account i should copy all my files and programs there so to get away from manually having to run each program as administrator and not use my normal account anymore?
