Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable

Not trying to bypass my parents :) If that's the only thing to worry about, at least. My stepdad (who got me the gift) didn't even tell me about this administrator account, and I assumed that I'd have full access so I never thought to bring it up till now. I'm not even sure if he used it before or had to set up anything on it.

I can't reinstall windows since I didn't have a disc for it, and there's not a disk drive on this computer as far as I can tell. I use an hp mini 110. I know there's a reinstall windows option in my start menu somewhere but, again, that's something I'd need the administrator password for.

If I can't get in contact with the assumed administrator, is there some place that I could call, possibly, to get this fixed? Or to get it even bypassed would I have to show identity or something?

We cant help you bypass it because it is someones elses' account. If it is your step dad ask him.

It is not something to be "fixed" it is a security features not a problem

Worth a shot to ask, at least. I know better now, and hoping that's really all it is, is my misinformation.

Great post. I am locked out of my computer so I pulled the hard drive, slid it into an enclosure and trying to steer via a USB connection to another computer.

I tried using your Elevated Command Prompt instruction, only I specify the G drive rather than the C drive. The remainder of the path should be unchanged, but it tells me that it is not a valid. Says something along the lines of not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Will the command not work outside of the C drive?

I tried your suggestion, but when I open in safe mode to the command prompt, it still takes me to the login screen looking for the user password. I've followed the Method 4 Option 2 steps but still takes me to my dead end. I certainly appreciate the help, but if you have any other thoughts then I'm all ears!
