Thanks, EasyBCD is a great way to go and makes setting up the boot names a breeze.

    Good info, thanks.

"Start the Operating System (ex: Windows 7) that you want to change the name of in the Windows Boot Manager screen."

I'm running XP/7 dual boot and I was able to change the description of "Previous Version of Windows" (or is it "Earlier Version of WIndows"???) to "Win XP" by modifying the {ntldr} "Description" line while running in Win 7.

I tried changing it as you described in the tutorial, but I don't think XP has the corresponding command. I copied bcdedit from the Win 7 (x64) system32 folder to the XP (x86) system folder and tried running bcdedit while logged into the XP system, but it would not run under XP. Not sure if it wouldn't run as a result of x64 command in an x86 environment or a Win 7/Win XP version conflict, but editing the ntldr section while in Win 7 solved it.

    Hi,

In your post it says "NOTE: Registration is not required to download it for free. Only the "Older Versions" of EasyBCD are still free." however, this is not true. All versions of EasyBCD (including the just released 2.1.1) are available for free. The link for the free download is there under the "buy" button for the commercial license.

    :)
