    Yes, that would allow you to install to the new partition and be able to dual boot. :)

    Microsoft says that you can not install a older version of windows as the second operating system. You can not install Vista with Windows 7 installed.
    Warning

    • You must install the older operating system first, and then install the more recent operating system. If you don't (for example, if you install Windows Vista on a computer already running Windows 7), you can render your system inoperable. This can happen because earlier versions of Windows don't recognize the startup files used in more recent versions of Windows and can overwrite them.

I installed Windows 7 on a partitioned harddrive with vista on the other half. After the installation i have my boot menu with: Windows 7 Windows Vista Windows vista still works but when i try and load windows 7 i get a boot error message: FILE \windows\system32\winload.exe

I have set up Windows 7 to dual boot with my Vista, but can not find a way for W7 to access "My Documents" which are on Vista. Ideally I want both operating systems to be able to access, edit, and add to "My Documents" and personal files. Can anyone please help ? Regards, Bill.
