Windows 7: Log On Screen - Change

Alright,

The program from option one seems to be fighting me at the moment. I mean, I've used the program from option one previously, and successfully changed the background a few months ago, but now that I want to change it back, it's steadfastly refusing to change it.

I've run it as an administrator, I've resized the picture as necessary, the picture is below the file size threshold, and it's still not cooperating. The backgrounds folder IS there, where it's supposed to be, with the several different resolutions and whatnot.

Heck, I even ran option four to try to change it back to the standard one and it's STILL that one I changed it to months ago. I'm getting more than a bit frustrated with this. What am I doing wrong?

Hello madnessmaka, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you haven't already, see if you are able to use the downloadable default background from the yellow tip box at the top of the tutorial to change the background to it using Option One or Option Two.

Alas, neither option one nor two seems to have worked with the file you pointed to.

If you have not already, restart the computer after using OPTION FOUR to see if that may help. Sometimes, a restart is needed when it's stubborn.

Do you remember if you installed or used any other program that has an option to change the log on screen background that could be overriding these changes?

Thank you so much!

The restarting option didn't work, but I had completely forgotten that Tuneup Utilities has a "login screen change" function.

After fiddling with that, the problem seems to be solved.

Option 1 rules 256 link of bites but managed to use this image
I have a bad habit of designing everything in the middle of an image which especially bites for this type of thing but hey I only see if for a few seconds

After switching to Classic and back, I found the blue with flower screen. Formerly, it had been a greyish image in the "info/background" folder. I prefer that but don't know how to get it back though it's in the place it ought to be while the flower image is in the oobe folder. I've uploaded that image but the other image doesn't seem to want to be uploaded. But it's the same as the first image you posted, Shawn.

From the moment I bought it, it's been this greyish image. After a factory reset also. Must be an HP image.

pxfragonard,

It looks a little like the background of the old Windows Energy screen saver.

Not familiar with it. It was the one my machine started up in originally and starts in when I do a factory reset too. It's the only file in the backgrounds folder, the flower image is a bmp in the oobe folder.
