Hii all .. I am trying the change by GPO in windows server .. using virtual machines in VM ware ..
once I installed an ultimate version on the VM .. I can not found this path ..
I have only this : C:\Windows\System32\oobe\

but no "\info\backgrounds" one there .. any feedback ?

just tried this on windows 7 ultimate and working fine. thanks for the stand alone exe file
and the awesome idea of changing that horrible look at the beginning when loading windows up

Hey guys. I have the same issue as the quoted poster. This path
C:\Windows\System32\oobe\info\backgrounds
simply does not exist! It only goes as far as ..\oobe. However, I do see a file in that folder, called "background.bmp", which is the same image as the standard log-on screen image. (See my attached screen shot.)

What's going on here? This is really weird that this (supposedly) standard directory path doesn't exist. How does that make sense??

Sorry if this was already resolved somewhere, but I hope you'll forgive me for failing to browse through all 38 pages of this thread...

Hello fr0zensphere,

"C:\Windows\System32\oobe\background.bmp" is the default file path.

The other folders are not there by default unless added.

Ohhh... really? So I have to make those folders manually myself?

I just re-read your instructions in the OP. Just curious, where am I missing it? I don't see anything about creating those folders lol.

It's in the note under step 12.

Personally, I would use one of the programs from option 1 or 2 instead to make it easy.
