I was trying this last night when the first post about it came up. I couldn't get it to work.

I tried This way using the download, and still doesn't work.

I'm running 7057 64bit, the only thing that I really see that is differant from the how to's is my resolution is 2560x1600.

Here is a SS of my backgrounds folders.
    Hello Muratus,

Is your image over 256 KB in size? If so, it will not work.

Double check to make sure that all images in the folder are below this size, and that you have merged the .reg file to enable this.

You might also try removing the 2560x1600 file as a test to see if it will work with just the backgroundDefault.jpg file. It will be stretched to fit though.

    Yup, everything looks correct.

Here is a SS with the regs editor open to the correct place and correct value & the details of the images in the backgrounds folder.

I've tried setting them to read only also.

Just having the backgroundDefault.jpg didn't work. But it's the same size also.

ok, Just got it. I resized the backgroundDefault.jpg to 1900x1200 and tried it with only that.

    IT WORKED. lol

So I'm guessing there is a max size also 2560x1600 images do not work but 1900x1200 works on computers with 2560x1600 resolution.

Just create it. Just right click on an empty space within oobe and New-Folder, rename ''info''. Same thing with backgrounds. Inside info, right click, New-Folder, rename ''backgrounds''.

    Hi everybody

    One caveat with this

If you CHANGE your desktop background (not the LOGON screen BTW -- this is the desktop image in "Personalize") / theme / User picture (the little square box you see by your user name) then you need to re-run the registry fix again otherwise you'll just get the bog standard default logon screen again.

It also fails if you have a "Slideshow" desktop -- pictures changing every 30 mins.
    Any good "Scripters" out there

A script which fixes the Registry everytime you change the desktop background would be better or even better still something that stops it being re-set unless you explicitly want it to.

(Note please don't confuse Desktop Backgrond (Wallpaper) with the Logon Screen.)

    Cheers

    Muratus,

I'm happy to hear that you got it working. I thought that it may have had something to do with the 2560x1600 image. :)

    Hi Jimbo,

Mine still works even after changing the Desktop Background. It may just not work properly in your 7048 build number.
