Thanks. It finally completed the backup. I took a look at the files and I guess I completely misunderstood the concept. I thought it would simply write over the existing files in a simple fashion. Not so. It creates a plethora of files I have no idea what they are. You're idea will definitely work. I was looking for something that would be scheduled and simple. Not
If it were simple and straight forward, it would not be from Microsoft.

But the real sad part is, if the recovery does not work as designed, then you cannot really do much with those files.

Has anyone had any issues with using a Samba share as your backup destination (including testing a restore from samba?)

    Hello nooruddin,

Sorry for the confusion. Windows Backup will not backup or restore installed programs, but you will be able to back up the files in any folder(s) you include in the backup. Including any .exe files in them. :)

Hi everyone. Just have a question about using Windows 7 backup to do an incremental backup of a certain folder, after making a backup of that folder initially. Such as My Pictures etc. Is it easy to do? (Is it something that the program CAN do?)

If not, what would be a good free alternative program to use to do this?

    Many thanks

    Hello ValiantSaint.

If you set Windows Backup to automatically run on a schedule, then it'll keep the selected folder(s) backed up.

You can also manually run the backup as needed or wanted as well. :)
