Hello shawn i dont actually remember the exact link on this website so i am giving an alternative link which i found on google search. But the contents are the same.
How to Create Hidden User Account (Hide User Account from Welcome Screen) in Windows « My Digital Life

Hello shawn changing the password didnt help i am experiencing the same problem. However when i am using step 4 of option three to enable the option of 'dont show last user name'. I am able to log in but the problem starts when i enable the option. I am denied access to my account by the error ' username or password incorrect' but i can access the built in administrator account by typing in the username and password.

I must admit that I'm not sure why it lets you log in one way and not the other.

As a test, try using OPTION ONE since it includes a bit more in the REG file that may or may not help.

Yes i saw the reg file. Please advice me on this issue. I see that the .reg file u provided changes 'dontshowlastusername' to 1. Well thats OK. But the second part of the file changes 'logontype' to 0. Now using step 3 of option 3 does the first part. Then should that second part also need to be done? If yes then how.

Can u tell me how to login into a hidden user account. I am having this problem since win7 doesnot support ctrl+alt+del on login screen unlike winXP.

Personally, I would not recommend to hide any user account just for that reason. Since you have Windows set to require a user name and password at log on, that would essentially hide the accounts at log on anyways.

Only Option One has the "LogonType" DWORD included in it. It's just an older way of doing this, and was added to make sure it's set right if that DWORD was ever previously added by the user from somewhere else. Basically to make sure it's more compatible for everyone. Merging the REG file is part of the test to see if that DWORD may be the issue for you or not. The REG file in step 2 of OPTION ONE removes it though.

Do you think it may be because my account dont have full administrator privileges but the built in account has.

Then ths time i will unhide the administrator account and repeat the above procedures from from this account and see if it works. Will this be safe?

Since this is only trying to log on to the user account at the log on screen, it doesn't matter what privileges an account has. That only comes in to play after you have logged in to the user account for what access it has.

Yes, it will be safe since that is the default setting.

If unhiding all accounts (Administrator) makes no difference, then create a new account for yourself, and see if you are able to log on to it when having to enter both a user name and password. If so, then you could copy what you want (ex: shortcuts, files from Music, Pics, Docs, etc.... folders) to the new account, and delete the old account afterwards to use the new account instead.
