Q1) No. A system image is a image back of all system drives. You can't just copy it back.
Q2) Yes, you can restore the system image on another computer as long as the hard drive is at least as big as the one the image was created from. You may also have issues with the drivers included in the system image on a different system.

That's what I was worried about: drivers. I thought it didn't install any specific drivers if it was in audit mode.

If there is no partition on the 3TB HDD then there is no drive letter and the program cannot id the HDD. Make a partition of the right size and it will work.

Really? That kinda sucks.... I wanted to swap out my current HDD for a new SSD.... I JUST reinstalled Win7 on a 750GB HDD and was thinking of creating & using an image (as per method #2) instead of resorting to a clean install on the new 500GB SSD. Is this not possible???

Only if the SSD is as large as the HDD. Otherwise the image won't fit on it.
You should be able to use Macrium Reflect to create the image with instead for this though.

I used Macrium Reflect to do this. However, If you're not familiar with Macrium and you want to move quickly and painlessly then this $20 product may be worth considering.

It is worth the effort eventually having a look at (free) Macrium Reflect.
Macrium free can restore to a smaller partition size as long as the used space fits.
Just need to drag the image to the new partition.
