Tried both methods now.

EDIT: Managed to get it working by moving the desktop shortcut to a folder.

Thanks for the help and a great forum.

I've just hit a problem with this and I'm hoping someone out there can help me out.

When I first set it up clicking on it would open up My Computer as normal and this would then become a new folder in the taskbar. Clicking it again would open up another folder in the taskbar making it nice and easy to switch between multiple folders. All fine.
Now here's where the problem starts. I accidently unpinned it from the taskbar today and had to re-do it but now whenever I click on it it doesn't open up a new folder for me to use, it just stays focused on My Computer. Clicking it again simply minimises it meaning I can no longer have multiple instances open for use.

Please help.

Hello Hitcher,

Do you have your taskbar set to group buttons (always combine)? It should never have more than one button or icon on the taskbar though, but should open multiple instances of the Computer window for each time you click on the taskbar icon when set to group buttons.

If the above does not help, then try redownloading the shortcut, place it somewhere you want to store it at on the C: drive, then pin it to the taskbar.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Yes, I've always grouped them. Goodness only knows why it's not working like it did before.

I have found I can open more folders by using the 'slide' action on My Computer to open up a new instance but it was much easier before clicking it would open a new folder on the rightside of the taskbar, and then clicking it again would simple open another new folder that would get grouped next to the first one.

Hitcher, I'm not sure why it's doing that as well. It still works the original way for. You might just unpin and delete your current Computer shortcut, then replace it with a new downloaded copy of it from here to see if it still does the same.

Computer won't shut down, programs don't appear on taskbar
Sometimes when I start my computer, I'll find that my running programs don't appear on the task bar. This isn't too bad -- I can still use Alt-Tab to get around. Then I open the Start Menu, and the programs that are supposed to be pinned there are missing. Of course, they still show up under All...
