but good news is a friend brought me a laptop last night that was buggered up with JUNK!! it kept popping up reg clean pro (spyware/ransomware obviously) and every time we would click a link it would not even go to the page we clicked on it went to some kinda websites that of course wanted us to purchase something...
Come to find out someone previously (her dumb brother) installed a hacked version of Win 7 on it,,, I just so happened to pick up a 40 dollar Scandisk Ultra 120 refurbished SSD the day before (40 bucks I couldn't pass it up), Since she already had the Win 7 OEM key I cloned over to the SSD from a spare HDD that I installed win 7 ultimate on last week from the link in the image you show,,, After I partitioned and set up the SSD drive the clone took all of 9mins to copy over and be set up on the desktop! Before antivirus and spywares I installed for her protection I was having 19 second boot times! now im around 35 but all is good and this laptop now rocks! Still finishing up with it but now I know when I do my system I think the clone should go well. Thanks appreciate your info!

That's good just be careful with cloning I have cloned quite a few of my drives and some have had to be redone but only I think because I am a bit of a want it done yesterday person:)

I use Macrium Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download (I have the paid for and free versions because I cannot afford all paid for on five machines) for my stuff as with it you can clone partitions by drag / drop when cloning from a large to a small drive - something that cannot usually be done easily or at all.

That i like! I made an old laptop drive that i put a 38gb partition on so i can clone to anything! I have an old version of acronis but never had luck with it. Also a 7+yr old copy of farstone drive clone it works perfect!! The ssd clone for my system went well so so far so good! Wish i could clone it all to a dvd and park it away! Lol

EDIT! 3/22/10: The new INTEL chipset drivers 9.6.0.1014 support TRIM! Use these instead of the MS AHCI ones for Intel Chipsets.

Altought it says desktop, this laptop board driver appears to be available, but I never installed this driver:Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver Driver Details | Dell US
and then of course there are these drivers from the intel site: (apparently my havendale/clarkdale chipset falls under the series 5 family which is one of the requirments, but these appear to be RAID ie. multiple hard drive set ups, which I only have one)

So I'm a bit confused on what to do or use, if I should do anything at all as I'm going to be wiping the SSD clean upon the reinstall

Many months ago I replaced my W7HPx64 C: drive with a Kingston SSD, and did the stuff on Page 1 and thought I was good to go. Today I learned that for this motherboard with nVidia chipset, having left the Controller drivers as nVidia, I have not had working TRIM, despite that fsutill behavior query disabledeletenotify comes up as Enabled i.e.

DisableDeleteNotify = 0

The reason for this I discovered was that NVIDIA DRIVERS DON'T SUPPORT IT! They ignore W7 trim stuff, and I learned this by running trimcheck-0.7.

After lotsa work I discovered I could "Update" the nForce drivers (two of them) and force-select instead the Windows "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller" for each and trimcheck now reports IT WORKS!

But while my Intel PC with Intel SSD Toolbox has an "SSD Optimizer" which "Optimizes Intel SSDs using Trim functionality", there seems to be no such utility for this Kingston.

Does this mean my SSD has bits & bytes on it that will never be cleaned-up? Any way to force a cleanup given I've run this way for many months?

EDIT: Well I found a utility called ForceTrim and after it ran the Free Space on my SSD increased by maybe 3MB so maybe it did work, I dunno for sure. If anyone here has better ideas please tell.
