I just installed TuneUp Utilities 2011 today and it's made a huge difference.I'm going to update to Win7 SP1 tonight so I may take a hit in restart time with it.But anything's better than the approx 2 minute time (just for shutdown) when I got the computer
I'm saving up for an SSD and more ram.I have 3gigs installed (my laptop's max is 4gb).I could shave off some time by disabling a few start-ups like my docks (Nexus,Object Dock) since I don't use desktop icons other than the trash bin,and just start them from the task bar but like I said...I still have a little tweaking to do but that's half the fun

Just as I thought.Installed SP1 and it's now 119 seconds.Still far,far better then when I first got it though so I'm not really complaining too much

Here's mine. I'm running 3 RAID arrays. If I pull my other two RAIDs out it might be faster. They slow the system down a little.
Does that script include the BIOS post time? Including HDD detection, RAID post, etc.? If that's the case, any OEM with an SSD would score high.

Hello Lazzer,
The time includes the full time it takes the computer to restart and startup back into Windows. :)

My first try was 85 seconds. I cleaned up some applications, etc , and tried again and it was 66 seconds. Not too bad for an old (2010) AMD phenom X2 550 system....

Brink, would this apply to logging in too?
For example I have 4 User Accounts:
Administrator - For tasks I couldn't do on my Account
Main Account - General account
Normal User - Will use this for Security reasons - So the virus has less permissions
Guest User - For guests, ofc.
By the time it takes me to login and type a password would that add to the time. Nothing too serious, just wondering?
Well, I got 70 seconds, had to click the User and type a Password and for some reason it takes like 15 seconds for my User to actually login :/
