I got EasyBCD running and XP is listed in the Boot Mangager but when I try to load XP I get a message that File:\NTLDR is missing or corrupt.
Umm,

Did you do step 7 to 15 to add XP to the drive letter (step 10) that is listed at the "boot" disk in Computer Management?

Yes I did that but still no luck. I unplugged the Win 7 drive today and the XP drive booted to XP with no problem. When I plugged the Xin 7 drive back in, EasyBCD still tells me that I am missing the NTLDR file on the XP drive.

I messed with the BIOS again and found out I can boot it to XP from the BIOS again. In the BIOS when I go to Boot, then Hard Disk Drives, it shows both drives listed as Drive 1 and Drive 2 so I can just change Drive 1 to my XP drive and it works. But, when I go into the BIOS and go to Boot then Boot Device Priority, I only see the one drive and one of my DVD drives. Before I installed Win 7 I could see both drives and choose which drive I wanted to boot to there. I think if I could get it back to see both drives under Boot Device Priority instead of one hard drive and one DVD drive that EasyBCD would work. I am just happy now that I can boot back to XP. Thanks for all your help.

Nice guide, thank you.

Just wondering which drive's MBR is modified to show the multiboot menu when Windows 7 is clean installed onto a new drive when there's already an exisiting XP installation on a different drive?

Someone may correct me but I believe it will be the MBR on XP's drive

In the case you just specified the HD to which the 7 mbr is written depends which HD is first in the Bios boot order.

It won't always be the first HD in the boot order - it would be in this case.

Ah I see... that's good to know.

So I can leave my XP drive completely untouched by putting the new drive above the XP drive in the boot sequence before installing Win7. I suspected as much, just needed a guru to confirm it.

Excellent, many thanks!
