Seriously!
Thanks dude for making this tutorial!
I always wanted to have dual boot with 7 and XP :P
I fugured out about the bootloader by myself ^^
Thanks again, alot! :)
Thanks so much!
Bestt guide out there
Slipstreamed SATA drivers into XP and all went well too
Dual-Booting for life
Thanks!!!
Thanks a lot . This topic is goooooood !!!!
Really helpful .
Of course I had some problems cause I didn't use the command prompt.
When I used this
Type in these comands below, and press enter after each one.
- bootrec /FixMbr
- bootrec /FixBoot
- bootrec /RebuildBcd
everything went OK
The first 3 tries were bad . Windows XP wouldn't start. So did Windows 7. So , I installed Windows 7 in the new partition , too .
I could enter the new boot menu , 2 Windows 7 choices (very strange) were there and one Window XP choce too , but unfortunately , when I chose XP , I couldn't continue the installation because it was an OEM version and I didn't have the key.
After this , I entered my regular Windows 7 OS . I formatted the XP partition and then I installed the proper Windows XP .
After installing windows XP , I inserted the windows 7 DVD , I used the commads you gave here and everything works perfect now .
It's a bittersweet feeling because I had to reboot the PC again and again and again. So many times that makes me sad . BUT I DO HAVE 2 OS NOW !!! THANKS!!!
Hello Vnikosv, and welcome to Seven Forums.
It's great to hear that you got it sorted out. Thank you for posting with your results and solutions to share with others. :)
OK, I have read, and re-read this page about 20 times now, and I still cant resolve my problem. I have a Dell Lattitude e6510 with Win 7 Enterprise intalled. I shrank and formatted my drive. Trying to install win xp pro 64 on my newly created e: drive. Went to the Dell website and got the floppy drive files for the Intel Sata drive, (Supposedly) I have booted to the win xp cd in the drive and hit f6 and tried the driver for the Intel ICHM9-E and it says it loads it. but alas after windows trys to start, BSOD! Tried the 32 bit cd as well with same result. Tried setting SATA operation to ATA in bios, but that made it worse so put it back and let win 7 fix itself via restore. Right now all is back where I started short of the shrunk drive. Any Ideas where I am going wrong?
