Hello Haider, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Do you have RAID setup on that drive? If so, you will need RAID drivers for XP on a USB flash drive to load during the installation of XP for it to be able to see the HDD.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Brink,

You are a life saver, I finally got the dual boot win 7 and XP on two separate drive set-ups working thanks to you and this great post!

And by the way, just a little something I figured out that might help other members while trying to do the same setup,
I was having this problem like many I had read have been experiencing where every time I tried to load XP where you have to press F6 to load the drivers for the HDD I would get error 18 on line 2112 or something like that. Well the solution to that is the floppy disk needs to be freshly formatted and do the long format not the quick and then copy all the drivers on it afterwards and it worked just fine. I tried it a few times with different floppies that I had lying around,

    Thanks again.

    Hardisk or a new partition?

    Hei

I am a new user so I try to learn how to dual boot xp and win 7.Your tutorial is great, I am just wondering I have 2 hardisks in my computer.
Disk 1 has win 7 (C), hp tools, recovery(E) and system. Disk 2 is empty for the data. Which hard disk is good for making a new partition and installing it disk 1 or disk 2? Because I dont want to have problem in dual booting later and the performance is important.
    Thanks before hand...

Hello Juventu, and welcome to Seven Forums.

What happens when you click OK to allow it to be fixed?

Hello Fatih, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It really doesn't matter which disk you use for performance, but using Disk 2 would make it easier to remove in the future if you decide to.

    Hope this helps,

Dual boot problems with IDE and SATA?

Just put together this new machine with Win7 Pro-64bit (stand alone) on the SATA drive.
I have a brand new IDE drive and was thinking about installing WinXP on it.
What might the problems be using SATA and IDE?
Which drive would be the slave?
If I disconect the SATA drive, install the IDE drive as the only drive, format and install XP, can I then meld the two independant drives to a dual boot situation and which part of the "instructions" would cover that scenario??
    Thanks
