OK, the issue is still there. Randomly it decided to clear my list of pinned jump list items. GREAT! :) It turned out it's not a problem with my system because I did a clean reinstalled of Win7x64 Ultimate. Setup everything as I am used to and after a while, the jump list pinned items are all cleared again. So it's either a bug in the OS or some of my tweaks. I'd assume it is the latter but I can't quite put my finger on it. A wild guess would be - can it be something with the System properties - Advanced (tab) - Performance settings - Visual effects? From the visual effects all I use is the 'Show thumbnails instead of icons' and 'Smooth edges on screen fonts'. All else is off cos there's no need for it. But still ... could it be any of those settings that I've turned off there? Difficult to do the trial and error in this case since the error occurs only like once in ... whenever it feels like, no pattern at all.

    Looking for help troubleshooting this.

PS - no ccleaner, no nothing, not using any 3rd party or any scheduled task to schedule or clean or run anything. Isn't there a log somewhere to check where and what ran when?

Did this happen after a Windows Update by chance?

Thank you for the reply! :) Nope, I don't install those. Have install none of those since I reinstalled my Windows.

I must admit that I'm not sure what could be clearing your pinned jump lists like that.

For now, I would recommend to create a backup of them to be able restore as needed until a culprit is found.

No need to backup .. what's the point... i'll have to backup everyday .. i have no guarantee that I won't lose stuff this way. Say I backup, but then I pin 3 more folders and then it dies on me again and then I restore from the backup and those last 3 folders are not there cos I simply cannot be bothered to backup after each and every single pin I add ... no need.

A much better solution is to make a shortcut of C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent ... place it on desktop and access it as needed. This stores recent folders and items, which is even better. So for now that's the best solution I've been able to come up with on my several installs of Win7x64sp1 Ultimate. I hope this helps others, whom might have the very same issue as I'm having.
